Omschrijving Melding
QuoteDear Commision, I would like to share my experiences with the nuisance caused by aircraft noise as I live under the Buitenveldertbaan in Amsterdam Buitenveldert. In this densely populated part of Amsterdam the noise pollution measuring point is out of order for years now. Of course, 'they' have no intention at all to repair it. This nuisance has a major impact on everyday life 24/7. Sound from overflying aircraft disrupts sleep, makes daytime concentration difficult and causes ongoing stress. Moments of rest in and around the house have become scarce. Windows have to be kept closed, the garden cannot be used, children have to stay inside because of too much ongoing noice and bad quality of air. Our quality of life is becoming less and less for years and years now. You never know in advance if it will be possible to sleep during the night (as well as young children). You never know how the day will be. If one can spend the (working) day without an ongoing noice of planes coming over every other minute and producing 80/90 Db per flight and flying over very low. If one can have the necessary rest and relax moments during the weekend. If one can make a walk in the area, for example The Amsterdamse Bos or the Amstelveen Polder. In addition, the decision-making around aviation and noise pollution for residents is often opaque. It is unclear how trade-offs are made and what interests are more important. Residents feel inadequately heard because of this or worse: they are being ignored and told to move. The opportunities for participation are also lacking. Participation moments come late, feel non-committal and rarely lead to visible changes. This creates frustration and a growing sense of powerlessness. In short any 'negative' comment is rejected or ignored. Even decisions of the court are ignored by the Dutch Government! At least, it appears that the current rules and procedures in practice mainly lead to delays. Instead of effective protection against nuisance, measures linger in investigations and exceptions, while the burden on local residents continues or even increases. It looks like the EU rules are only in advantage of the aviation industry (and they are not meant to be). I hope that these experiences will be taken seriously by you as a commission. I hope that my comment will contribute to policies that will actually protect and engage residents. The most of all I hope (and expect) that you will consider and respect our FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS which are just the basis of life for every citizen of the EU. Health and basic quality of life is the most important thing in life. Please stop this terrible deliberate pollution of our living environment, violation of our human rights and ecocide. Sincerely
